YouTube on Apple TV Rocks
Previously, I claimed that I could only imagine watching YouTube on my Apple TV “when I’m bored on the couch”. I just spent a good 40 fun-filled minutes watching a bunch of YouTube videos for exactly that reason. But, since it was such an enjoyable time, I may have to retract the “I’m not a huge YouTube addict” part of that post.
Here are my favorites from my video viewing session (which, by the...
Yahoo! Sync for OS X Address Book?
Erica Sadun over at The Unofficial Apple Weblog posted some information yesterday about a Yahoo! sync framework that was installed with the new OS X 10.4.10 update.
I did a bit more sleuthing, and found out a bit more:
First, the following strings now show up in the Address Book binary:
Yahoo
@”ABYahooSyncPrefsController”
_isEnablingYahooSync
editYahooSyncPrefs

YouTube on Apple TV (and iPhone)!
As I predicted last week, YouTube is now available on Apple TV! I can’t wait to get home and try it out.
YouTube will also be available on the iPhone! That’s pretty cool, but I wonder how fast it will be to download a video over EDGE.
I’m not a huge YouTube addict, but I can certainly imagine using this functionality when I’m bored on the couch or on the go.

EVEN BETTER: iPhone Registration URL!
iTunes has two “bag” files: storeBag, mentioned previously, and secureBag, which I just checked.
And guess what I found?
<key>iPhoneActivation</key><string>https://albert.apple.com/WebObjects/ALActivation.woa/wa/iPhoneRegistration</string>
At the moment, albert.apple.com doesn’t seem to be responding to any connections from the outside. But that’s to be expected —...
YouTube Coming to Apple TV Soon?
I was poking around http://phobos.apple.com/storeBag.xml.gz, which provides iTunes with most of the URLs it uses to perform its functions, and found the following XML:
<key>appletv-youtube-auth-url</key><string>https://www.google.com/</string>
<key>appletv-youtube-url</key><string>http://gdata.youtube.com/</string>

Clean or Dirty?
From the iTunes page for Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black:
Which one is selected? Clean, or Explicit?
…
Wrong. It’s Clean.
Poor form, Apple!

Google Music?
I just grabbed this screenshot from inside of my Google Web History:
Note the “Music” search type at the bottom. When I reloaded the page, it was gone.
Curious.
Update: It looks like Garett Rogers has heard two rumors about a Google Music offering, as well.
Update 2: I retrieved the Music Web History page I went to from my history. You can check it out at...
